In the role of the Electromechanical Design Engineer you will perform the following:

Summary

Conceive, design, test and transfer to production new electro-mechanical and electronic products. Promote multi-functional, collaborative input in order to generate designs that optimize functionality, aesthetics, manufacturability, and cost. Provide support to production, vendors, our sales force and customers. 

Responsibilities

Machine design

  • Conceptual – Create and sketch from ideas or design parameters
  • Engineering – Calculate safe and robust designs
  • Design components and assemblies
  • Build and test prototypes, log results
  • Interface with company operations using an ERP system
    • Create Bills of Materials, et al.

Drafting

  • Computer
  • Hand
  • Manuals

Production Support

  • Troubleshoot
  • Design and make production fixtures and machinery
  • Assist repair department

Suppliers

  • Identify and qualify
  • Set-up files
  • Aid in initial procurement
  • Visit/Audit suppliers

Quality Control

  • Inspect incoming parts
  • Assign actions
  • Follow company procedures and standards.

Sales Support

  • Design “non-stock” components and assemblies
  • Assist sales staff
  • Perform field demonstrations
  • Answer technical questions

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.  

Qualifications

  • Proficient in product design, utilizing CAD systems (SolidWorks/AutoCAD)
  • Perform complex engineering calculations
  • Substantial experience in Design For Manufacturability
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Self-motivated, with a positive and professional approach to management
  • Enjoy hands-on mechanical work and problem-solving
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficient with basic hand tools and measuring implements
  • Basic understanding of GD&T and Stack Analysis
  • Commitment to innovation and problem-solving, “roll up the sleeves” approach

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electro-mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering (with strong mechanical aptitude), Mechanical Engineering or related field required
  • 3+ years of experience as a design engineer, in an industrial equipment manufacturing environment
